We are a family-owned business. I, Bill Ewers, have 23 years of experience as a outdoorsman and have worked for agencies that planned best practices for desired game, such as the Natural Resource Conservation Service, and I have led wildlife-oriented efforts such as the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program.

Halifax County, N.C., is the top county in North Carolina for total deer harvest, with an average of five bucks per square mile. Some of the biggest bucks killed each year in the state are killed in Halifax County.

The county is also an excellent place to bag your limit during North Carolina's spring turkey season in April and May. The spring turkey season allows two bearded males to be harvested.

At Piney Woods Outfitters, we offer a variety of hunting terrain managed for your enjoyment. You may hunt swamp bottoms, young pine plantings, hardwood ridges and young pine plantations with winding cleared corridors.

Our efforts to manage deer populations in these areas include planting food plots, loose corn piles and corn feeders, just to name a few.
